Are liability waivers enforceable in Northern Ireland?

Northern Ireland applies the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 and the UK-wide Consumer Rights Act 2015, so a business cannot exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence. As across the UK, a release that purports to waive those claims is not binding.

The document is best used as an informed-consent and assumption-of-inherent-risk record, with any exclusion of other loss limited to what is reasonable. A parent cannot sign away a child's claim, so treat a minor's form as consent, keep insurance and safety practice in place, and have the wording reviewed by a solicitor in Northern Ireland.
